Biography

Picture
Missinde Imagery Art was created to assist me in sharing with you my love for Nature and Photography. When I was young growing up in Michigan, I would wander the field behind my home looking at all the plants, insects, rocks; pretty much everything that Nature had to offer. It was common for me to come home with a pocket full of stones, a clipping from an interesting wildflower, or the occasional curled up caterpillar held safely in my hand. Not only did I take in the sights, but I listened to the sounds of the chirping crickets, the buzz of a bumblebee, wind through the trees, and the birds including the song of the chickadee-dee-dee.

The changing seasons brought new sights, sounds, and smells of nature. Cold frosty mornings felt refreshing and made the blades of grass glow beautifully in the early morning sun. A warm autumn day would fill the air with the smell of fallen leaves. A fresh blanket of snow in the winter offered fun opportunities to be outside. Springtime brought forth the smell of fresh earth after a cool rain. Flowers in bloom filled the air with their sweet scents.

Stepping into the swamps was like stepping into a whole new world. It presented itself with plants and foliage unlike what could be found in the fields. Not only was it fascinating to see what creatures and plant-life lived there, but also the excitement of making it through the swamp without getting covered in muck. Facing Mom with muck covered shoes was not the way to end a walk through Nature.

Sometimes I would sit in the family room watching the birds in the feeder through the big picture window trying to guess at what they were called. My mother had a big birdbook that I would often reference in trying to identify birds. Sometimes Mom would even go through the book with me.

My love for photography grew right along with my love for Nature. Even though I didn't have a camera when I was young, I got to experience and appreciate it since my parents were photographers. They specialized in weddings and senior portraits which allowed me to learn a few things from them not knowing that later in life, those little things I learned would help me tremendously with my own career in photography.

Growing up and becoming a parent I put my interest in photography on hold. Now that my kids are becoming adults, I have more time to explore Nature and share it with you through my photos.

I didn't start to take my photography seriously until one warm day in June of 2011, I took a picture of the bridge at Chippewa Landing in Caro, Michigan. I was sitting in my van when I snapped the photo not realizing the great image I had captured. Later that evening when I was viewing the photos it occurred to me that I could do something with my camera, and so it began, Missinde Imagery Art.

With some encouragement from friends, I found several craft shows and festivals to display my work. By the end of fall 2011, I had been in at least five different shows managing to sells prints at every event. Knowing that people enjoyed my work motivated me to keep going and to do better. Every day that I'm out on the trails I'm capturing Nature to share with you.

Thank you,
Ann-Marie
